Brass Instruments


	Brass Lessons

Since September 2006 all the children in Years 5 and 6 have received brass lessons. Through the Wider Opportunities Scheme, the School purchased cornets, trumpets, baritones and trombones so that each child has their own instrument.

The children have progressed well with their CIMA teacher who gives weekly lessons to the whole group.

In Years 3 and 4 all the children receive recorder lessons and so this experience, along with other music skills learnt in weekly music lessons, equips them well to go on and learn brass instruments.

The School also has a link with Newmarket Town Youth Band, with its leader helping with the lessons and performances at Kennett School.

The Band gave a concert at the School in March which was supported by the School and community. Four pupils from the School are already members of the Band.
