As Chair of Governors I would like to welcome you all to Kennett School, and explain who the Governing Body consists of and our role in the management of the school. The governing body consists of up to 12 governors appointed from the following categories, which ensures a representative group and includes: 3 governors from the local community
2 governors appointed via the local education authority
2 governors on the teaching staff (one of which is the head teacher)
1 governor is a non teaching member of staff
4 governors that are parents/carers The Governing Body is ultimately responsible for the success of the school, and in order to do this job well we need to keep our fingers very much on the pulse of everything that happens. This is achieved by the Governing Body holding regular meetings, the Chair meeting regularly with the Head Teacher and by performing governor visits to monitor and evaluate actions that have been implemented. All of these areas help us to make decisions that support the pupils and staff, facilitating their success in learning/teaching, their ability to feel safe, valued and included in everything that happens in school and to enjoy their time at Kennett School. A governor's role is very rewarding and it is a privilege to be part of the team working towards the continued success of Kennett School. Julie Reeve
